You and your general practice

From 1st October 2025, new NHS England rules take effect. You and your general practice (YYGP) has been developed to help patients understand what to expect from their general practice and how they can get the best from their GP team. YYGP also enables patient to provide feedback or raise concerns with their GP Practice, Healthwatch or the integrated care board (ICB).

The YYGP document published by NHS England can be found below:

The contractual changes that came into place on the 1st October 2025 require GP surgeries to turn on GP Connect. This allows third parties including but not limited to private providers, pharmacies etc to access clinical records and add to the record. As the data controller, the GP surgery holds ultimate liability for data breaches, some of which may be outside our control when data is inputted/accessed by a third party. For this reason, Salisbury Medical Practice has decided to turn on the read only element of GP Connect. We understand that this is not fully in line with contractual requirements but until we can be reassured that the liability for data breaches doesn’t sit with the practice, we cannot risk activating the ‘write to record’ element of it.m
