Important Notice – Face masks
If you have visited us for an appointment recently, you will know we have been providing surgical face masks to all patients attending the surgery to keep both our staff and patients safe.
In response to recent Government guidelines (https://www.gov.uk/government/news/public-advised-to-cover-faces-in-enclosed-spaces), we are asking that patients now bring their own hand made face mask or covering when attending the practice. This is to ensure our PPE levels remain safe for the foreseeable future.
Below is a link to the GOV.UK website, with instructions for how to make masks at home: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/how-to-wear-and-make-a-cloth-face-covering/how-to-wear-and-make-a-cloth-face-covering
Alternatively, we will have handmade reusable face masks supplied by the Salisbury Makers Hub in our entrance which patients can buy for a small donation. We have bought these and donated £2 per mask to the Stars Appeal. We will still supply surgical face masks when required.
Face coverings have 2 benefits:
- It can potentially stop the spread of droplets from an infected person to others. So, if you cough or sneeze, it catches the droplets.
- It is a reminder not to touch your own face or mouth. (It is important to also remember that if you keep touching your mask this can result in “hand to mouth” transmission of the virus).
Please remember that social distancing and effective hand washing are the best ways of protecting ourselves and each other and face masks are not a replacement for this.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
