COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics
We are so proud to have held our first COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic on Saturday, vaccinating over 1100 patients and staff in just one day. We are working together in our Sarum South Primary Care Network (PCN) with Downton Surgery, Harcourt Medical Centre, Three Chequers Medical Practice and Whiteparish Surgery. We are holding our clinics at an iconic and historic venue in the centre of Salisbury: Salisbury Cathedral.
Each of the 5 Practices are inviting their own patients, starting with those aged over 80. We are risk stratifying and prioritising patients within our over 80s population as the vaccine is being delivered in small quantities so we did not have enough to vaccinate the total population in the first clinic. It’s important that the clinics are booked with the correct proportion of patients per Practice to make this fair. The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is currently being used for the vaccinations.
In addition, the PCN is working hard to roll out vaccinations to their local care home residents and staff, which commenced on 14th January.
Patient safety is our priority so our clinics have social distancing measures in place and strict hygiene procedures throughout. Staff from across the network have been working around the clock to plan and prepare for the clinics and ensure they are safe for patients to attend.
We would like to say a huge thank you on behalf of all the Practices for your patience and support while we planned and prepared for the clinics. We would also like to thank the Wiltshire CCG for their ongoing support with the organisation of the clinics as well as Salisbury Cathedral and other local businesses whose support has been invaluable.
We are extremely grateful for the continued dedication and hard work of all our staff across the network who have been working tirelessly to ensure the clinics are up and running as soon as possible, as well as all the volunteers offering their support. We would also like to thank The Magna Learning Partnership who have kindly organised some student marshals to help us which have had a huge impact on the smooth running of the clinics. We are all very excited to play a part in history, vaccinating the population of Salisbury.
Please do not contact your GP Practice to enquire or book in your COVID-19 vaccination. The NHS will contact all eligible patients to invite them for an appointment for the vaccine.
