Events, Support cafe's and Drop-ins

Salisbury Medical Practice aims to be at the heart of the community for Health and Well-being, we hold regular events in our on-site cafe and conference rooms.  

All of our events (unless otherwise stated) are open to the whole community meaning that you do not have to be a registered patient in order to attend.

Free tea, coffee and biscuits are available at all Support Cafes/groups, kindly donated by Tesco Extra Salisbury.

Brain Injury Café 

  • 10:30-11:30am
  • Fountain Café, Fisherton House
  • 3rd Wednesday of every month
  • Run by Headway
  • The Brain Injury Cafe offers an informal opportunity to get information, support and advice about brain injury.
  • A brain injury can result from stroke, trauma (anything from concussion to a severe brain injury), lack of oxygen, infection, and tumours, among others.

Dementia Friendly Tai Chi

  • Wednesdays 10:30-11:30
  • Bemerton Heath Centre (Pinewood Way, SP2 9HU)
  • Tai Chi combines deep breathing and relaxation with flowing movements. Studies have shown that tai chi can help people aged 65 and over to reduce stress and improve general mobility.

Friends after Bereavement

  • 1-3pm
  • Ebble Room, Fisherton House
  • 3rd Wednesday of every month
  • Run by a bereavement councillor

The aim of the F.A.B group is to offer this ongoing support and cover a wide range of everyday issues and difficulties in a welcoming and safe environment.


Knit and Natter

  • Ebble Room, Fisherton House
  • 2nd and 4th Friday of every month

A group for anyone who loves to knit or wants to learn how! Needles and wool are provided if needed.


Fibromyalgia Café

  • Ebble Room, Fisherton House
  • 4th Thursday of every month
  • The Fibromyalgia Café is a chance to meet new people and share experiences in a safe and welcoming environment. A range of speakers attend including pharmacists and mindfulness practitioners.
  • On 26th June, Wiltshire IAPT will be attending to talk about their new free Chronic Pain courses offered at Fountain Way.

Department for Work and Pensions – Disability Employment Advisor Drop-in

  • 9:30 – 12:30
  • Fountain Café, Fisherton House
  • 1st Monday of every month

This is for anyone looking to get back into work, but don’t know where to start or are unsure if their health condition or disability will allow it.


Royal British Legion Drop-in

  • For anyone to learn more about the support services the Royal British Legion offer in Wiltshire.

Carers Café  

  • 10:30-11:30am
  • Fountain Café, Fisherton House
  • 1st Tuesday of every month
  • The Carers Café is a chance for carers to share experiences and meet people in a similar situation. A Carers Support Wiltshire volunteer facilitates this group and can offer guidance and support.

Sight Café

  • 1st Tuesday of every month
  • The Sight Café is for anyone living with a sight loss and their family members. A Sight Advisor from Wiltshire Sight facilitates the café, giving advice and information. Guide dogs are welcome.

Action on Hearing Group  

  • 10-11:30am
  • Ebble Room, Fisherton House
  • 1st Wednesday of every month
  • This group is for anyone living with a hearing loss. Action on Hearing Loss volunteers attend to offer guidance and information regarding support the charity offer. Also a chance to meet others in a similar situation. Advice on hearing aids also given.

Health Trainer Drop-in

  • 11:00-13:00
  • Fountain Café, Fisherton House
  • Health Trainers offer advice and support with healthy eating, physical exercise, alcohol consumption and general wellbeing. They can also measure blood pressure at the drop-in.

Wiltshire (Rethink) Independent Advocacy Drop-in  

  • 10:00-12:00
  • Fountain Café, Fisherton House
  • 2nd Monday of every month
  • An advocate can support you to express your views and wishes when you don’t feel listened to. They could also help you get services you are entitled to.

ME/CFS Café

  • 10:00-12:00
  • Ebble Room, Fisherton House
  • 2nd Monday of every month
  • People with ME and their family members who join together to share their experiences, form friendships and look to a bright future.

MS Support Drop-in

  • Salisbury & District branch providing peer support. It is a chance for people to talk to others who might be in similar situations to hear about the support and activities available from the local and national MS Society. Come in for a chat, ask information or just meet new people!

Moonfleet Performance

  • Monday 26th July

Join ‘The Theatre’ for a story of daring-do and dastardly deeds; ancient mystery and new-found love;song, heartbreak and laughter! Get caught up in the adventure as we try to discover what really happened to the Moonfleet Diamond! Free event, to book a place, please contact Katy.


Tinnitus Café  

  • Wednesday 5th September
  • Every 3 months
  • Ebble Room, Fisherton House
  • One of the British Tinnitus Association’s Support Groups, meeting to meet new people and share experiences. Different speakers each meeting.
